DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC
Gain the essential skills to harness your creativity and express yourself. We offer a wide variety of courses all year round in fields such Graphic Design, Drawing and Painting, Photography and Video, Performance Arts, Foreign Languages, Creative Writing and Copyediting, and many more. Undergraduate and some graduate students qualify for quarterly student grants enabling them to take Extension courses at little to no cost (some restrictions apply; see Student Grant Program for more details).
Based in the Conrad Prebys Music Center, the Department of Music brings together a faculty of distinguished scholars, performers, composers and computer music researchers to foster an atmosphere of diversity, collaboration and interdisciplinary inquiry with a focus on contemporary and experimental music. Faculty and students engage with the most vital ideas and newest technologies to push the boundaries of musical creation and performance, and to investigate music in the context of our time.
DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE & DANCE
The UC San Diego Department of Theatre and Dance offers a major and minor in Theatre, and in Dance, as well as a Theatre and Dance double major for undergraduates. UC San Diego Department of Theatre & Dance's undergraduate and graduate acting programs were ranked in the top 3 nationally by the Hollywood Reporter in 2019.

INSTITUTE OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES
The Institute of Arts and Humanities emphasizes interdisciplinary thinking. We house 14 undergraduate majors and minors in regional, ethnic, and thematic studies. Students can customize their degrees by selecting courses from multiple departments including Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance, and Music. Our programs equip students to analyze the past, present, and future with creativity and insight. Join us at one of our event series, “Challenging Conversations” and “Community, Arts and Resistance”.

La Jolla Playhouse is where artists and audiences come together to create what’s new and next in American Theatre.
